Compact Contacts 2.0 is a free update. • A new look: colored accounts with contact counts, and Merge Studio, which merges duplicates card by card. • Health Check: a 0–100 score, with duplicates, invalid phones and emails, missing names and stray spaces to fix. • History & Backup: daily encrypted backups on this Mac. Revert a field or restore a removed card. • Tags: colored tags saved as Contacts lists that sync with iCloud and Google. • Edit nickname, name prefix and suffix, social profiles and the photo, and sort any column A–Z or Z–A. • Smarter duplicate matching: a number saved with and without its country code is one number. • Rules, birthday reminders, Labels & Envelopes, Excel export and business card scanning. • Menu bar search, and with Apple Intelligence on macOS 26, note summaries and plain-language Smart Views.

Fixes from your feedback: • A Contacts archive (.abbu) can be chosen again when deleting contacts or resolving duplicates. • Clicking elsewhere finishes editing a table cell instead of locking the window. • Company cards show the person's name under the company name. • A column turned on from the Columns menu appears in its usual place and scrolls into view.

• The layout you choose is kept after relaunch and applies to every list. A Smart View can keep its own layout: pick “Smart View Layout” in the Layouts menu. • Row density stays the same in Favorites, Recents, and Recently Edited. • Phone numbers in international format are grouped correctly for every country, such as +44, +972, and +51. Stored numbers never change. • A contact’s additional phone numbers now appear under Phone Numbers in search results. • Polish: no blank strip under the sidebar, a fixed-width Layouts button, a centered contact count, and a distinct Edit Notes icon.

Version 1.5 makes finding and cleaning up contacts faster. • Search results are grouped by where they matched: name, phone, email, company, address, or Notes. • Bulk Edit can remove repeated phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, and postal addresses inside the same card, optionally treating different labels as duplicates. • Match on value, label, or both when removing or relabeling entries. For example, change every “cell” label to “mobile”. • A custom layout stays in place when you move between lists, and each list remembers its own layout. • Section headings no longer highlight with the selected row, and Turkish İ and I share one heading. • Websites saved without https:// now open correctly. • Faster sorting, filtering, search, and refresh in large libraries.

This update improves everyday contact and Notes workflows on Mac. • Fixed window resizing during startup and editing becoming unavailable after switching sidebar views. • Added a compact Notes toolbar with a 100% text-size reset, improved spacing, and a background that adapts to light and dark appearance. • Added custom Smart View icons and alphabetical section headings, with separate controls for letter navigation. • Hide built-in Smart Views without repeated confirmation and restore them from Settings. • Improved phone number display for Spain, Argentina, and Uruguay without changing stored numbers. • Clarified Notes search labels, simplified layout names, and improved Settings alignment and the Inspector menu.

Version 1.4 makes contact cleanup and Notes work easier. • Edit supported fields directly in the main table. • Delete selected contacts with a preview and verified recovery backups. • Open Merge Studio from your selection, choose values field by field, and undo merges from encrypted on-device history. Real-contact merging is now available on iPad. • Save custom layouts and improve navigation with persistent sidebar sections, column widths, and alphabetical shortcuts. • Work with a focused Notes editor, adjustable text size, and improved large-library search. • Improved Notes preservation in vCard recovery, merge undo, long-note editing, accessibility, and localization. Real-contact cleanup requires writable records and the required Notes and recovery access. Ordinary vCard exports exclude Notes unless you explicitly include them.

Version 1.3 brings safer cleanup and faster work with large contact libraries. • Bulk Edit now covers names, organization fields, labeled phones, emails, URLs and relationships, postal fields, birthdays, groups, and Notes. • Apply literal or regular-expression transformations and review every result before saving. • Merge Studio lets you choose values field by field, combine multi-value data, choose a destination account, and undo merges from encrypted on-device history. • Performance improvements: Notes indexing, large tables, and CSV export do less repeated work and show clearer progress. • Fixed Bulk Edit retry, automatic merge previews, Merge History visibility, pane resizing, and table-column stability.

Version 1.2 adds a faster, more focused way to work with contacts on your Mac. • Read, search, and edit long contact Notes, then focus the detail panel on Notes when you need more room. • Open Recently Edited, Missing Phone, and Missing Company to find follow-up work quickly. Recently Edited reflects successful saves made by Compact Contacts. • Export any Saved View directly as a vCard bundle. Notes remain off by default and are included only when you explicitly choose them. • Reach contacts, Saved Views, groups, accounts, and safe actions from the Command Palette. • Preview CSV and vCard export scope and contact count, and review every card before vCard import. • Customize, duplicate, hide, and restore built-in Saved Views, with more contact fields and custom labels available as columns.

Version 1.1 makes larger contact cleanups more deliberate: • Preview Bulk Edit changes to organization, department, or job title before anything is applied, with clear explanations for contacts that will be skipped. • Build more useful Saved Views by combining multiple conditions with ALL or ANY matching, then preserve the columns, sorting, density, and inspector layout you prefer. • Remove confirmed same-account exact copies only after choosing the record to keep and completing the required recovery steps. Compact Contacts never merges fields, moves records between accounts, or cleans up in the background. • Clearer recovery guidance, accessibility improvements, localization refinements, and stability fixes.
