Filmlog is a personal movie diary, a research tool, a soundtrack player and a cinema finder. It records what you watched, when, where, with whom and what you thought of it. Built by one person since 2013 and paid for by the people who use and love it. WHEREVER YOU ARE A native app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and a watchlist companion on Apple TV. With Filmlog Plus, multi-device support keeps one diary in step across all of them with iCloud. YOUR DIARY • Log every viewing with its date (or without) — a rewatch is its own entry. • Manage your Watchlist: sections for announced and upcoming movies — or add movies right from the Inbox. • Your preferred rating style: Favorites, five stars or a ten-point scale — one system, and switching loses nothing. • Remember: a note for each viewing, the people you watched with, and the cinema you sat in. • Your movies can be searched, sorted and switched to show them as a list or tiles. • Filmographies with your watched progress, facts about people. • Only the facts you care about: hide and show facts individually as well as change their list order. • Follow actors and directors and get notified when their next movie is released. • Select your favorite poster for your watched movies. • Enjoy statistics about your movie data and watching habits, and bring them to your Home Screen with widgets. A CATALOG THAT WORKS OFFLINE • Search through 315,000 movies and 464,000 people inside the app, with the internet switched off and titles in your language. • Find movies by character, by where the story is set, what it deals with and which book it was based on. • Looking for a cinema? Find one by name, or use your current location to see cinemas nearby. CHALLENGES: LISTS WITH A PURPOSE • Create movie lists with a goal and a progress bar — a hundred movies, a director, a year. • Share one and the whole list travels inside the link, with no record on any server. Whoever opens it can start with a copy of their own. SOUNDTRACKS, POWERED BY APPLE MUSIC Where a movie's score was released as an album on Apple Music, it sits on the movie's page — the full album and autoplay with an Apple Music subscription, previews without one. YOUR LIBRARY ANSWERS BACK • Spotlight finds your entry for a movie — watch date, rating, company. • Siri and Shortcuts log a movie, add it to the watchlist or mark a favorite without opening the app. • On iOS 27 and macOS 27, Siri AI answers questions about your library in plain language — not yet on iPhone and iPad in the EU. • On the Mac, a Claude Desktop extension reads your diary and writes to it when you ask. YOUR LIBRARY, IN AND OUT Import from Letterboxd, IMDb, Filmtipset and most other CSV exports — matched on your device, for you to review before you start the import. Export and backup are free, always. FILMLOG PLUS Filmlog is free and complete on a single device. Filmlog Plus adds multi-device support, star ratings, tile/list switching and custom facts, notes per viewing, watch companions, the cinema on the entry, statistics and widgets, unlimited challenges and adding whole lists to them, unlimited following, extended cinema search, importing your matched library, custom posters, additional app icons and the Claude Desktop extension on the Mac. Subscription or one-time purchase. Filmlog Plus Family is available too. Do you have feedback? Last update:
The largest update in Filmlog's history. ON EVERY SCREEN • Filmlog for Mac — a real Mac app with a sidebar, its own Settings window, menus and keyboard shortcuts. Coming soon. • Filmlog for Apple TV — your watchlist and challenges on the TV you're about to watch on. • The iPad uses the Mac's two-pane layout, with keyboard shortcuts. • Multi-device support — one diary across all your devices, through iCloud. (Plus) YOUR DIARY • Star ratings — 5 stars or 10 points instead of hearts; switching keeps everything. (Plus) • Watched with — record who you saw a film with. (Plus) • A note per viewing, and the cinema you sat in, right on the diary entry. (Plus) • Watched is now Diary and All, with new sorting and date pills. • Statistics rebuilt with a patterns heatmap, and widgets for the Home Screen and the Mac. (Plus) FIND MORE • Search characters, locations, subjects and the books films are based on — offline, on your device. • People without a film-database entry get their own pages and offline filmographies. • Titles in your language, and facts about people from Wikidata. • Spotlight and Siri find what's in your library; on iOS 27 they answer questions about it in plain language. • On the Mac, a Claude Desktop extension can read your diary and write to it. Coming soon. (Plus) LISTS, MUSIC, IMPORT • Challenges — film lists with a goal and a progress bar; a whole list travels in a single link. • Add a whole filmography to a challenge at once. (Plus, iPhone and iPad) • Soundtracks — where a film's score is on Apple Music, it plays from the film's page. • Import from Letterboxd, IMDb, Filmtipset, a Filmlog backup or a plain list of titles from a note — matched on your device, TV shows set aside, films the built-in catalog doesn't know found online, nothing overwritten. (Plus) Family Sharing — every Filmlog Plus plan can be shared with your family. IMPROVED IN 2026.9.1 • Search on iPad — places, subjects, what a film is based on, characters and the people you watched with now sit in their own pane next to the results. • The changelog — one card per version, every change marked by its kind, and older versions folded away until you want them. FIXED IN 2026.9.1 • Adding a companion by name — type it in the add screen's field and tap Add. // Thanks Jonas • Companion names were unreadable in the Original theme. // Thanks Jonas • Opening a film's notes froze the screen while the library was syncing. // Thanks Jonas • The title of the activity chart in the statistics broke into single letters in some languages. // Thanks Saúl • The light appearance was labeled wrongly in the settings of many languages. • On first launch, the Releases buttons opened the film search instead of the people search. • The cinemas search finds a cinema by its city or district, not only by its name. // Thanks Jonas • The search missed new films nobody had rated yet, even when you typed their full title. • In the Original theme, the Share and More buttons on a challenge's screen were nearly invisible. • After allowing Apple Music access on a soundtrack screen, the track list could load forever. The complete list of changes and fixes is in the app's changelog.
