Motion Photos to Live Photos
Android Motion Photos is kinda like the iPhone's Live Photos, but are stored in a different format. It is absolutely possible to convert these Motion Photos into compatible Live Photos, which can be viewed using the official Apple Photos app on the Mac, or shared with other Apple devices, such as iPhones and iPads.
To do so, use Pinwheel, a new, easy to use macOS app that does exactly that. It takes in Motion Photos images (which looks just like regular .jpg and .heic files), and converts them all into Live Photo-compatible photo and video sets, which can be displayed properly when imported in the Apple Photos app.
You may process images in large batches or individually. The process retains all details in your photos, including EXIF data, GPS location data, capture date and time, etc, without any loss, so you do not have to worry about that!
Lots of Android phones capture Motion Photos, including Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones, but it may not seem immediately obvious as the image files captured and saved look just like any other .jpg or .heic files. You might even have some Motion Photos around, without realising, if you have received photos from your family and friends that used Android devices. Pinwheel takes care of that for you, as it is able to detect if an image is a Motion Photo or not.
With Pinwheel, you can now enjoy Android Motion Photos, just like the Live Photos you love.
