Caption files and wide screens • Save the captions as a file: the Captions sheet writes SubRip (.srt), WebVTT (.vtt) or plain text (.txt) into Captioner's folder in Files and opens the share sheet, with the transcription controls applied. • The Share button after an export now opens the share sheet for the video. • On iPad and an unfolded iPhone, the editor shows the video on the left and the captions beside it.
Spatial audio videos • Videos recorded with spatial audio on recent iPhones carry a second, hidden sound track. Exports now copy only the track that plays, so exporting these videos no longer fails. • The preview is heard even with the ring/silent switch on silent.
Blank lines and timing • A caption can be blank: clear its text, or long-press a caption and choose Insert Blank Line After. Nothing is shown while a blank line is on screen, which is the way to make the previous caption disappear at an exact moment. • Long-press a caption and choose Edit Timing… to type its start and end, or take them from the playhead. The words are spread over the new span. • Return, or the Done button above the keyboard, finishes a caption edit and puts the keyboard away.
