Heukino 2.1 is built for iPhone Duo — and also brings what you asked for after 2.0. IPHONE DUO • Unfolded, Heukino uses the entire inner display. • Propped up like a small TV: picture on top, large control tiles below — with a soft glow from the program. • The channel tile opens the channel deck: channels, current shows and catch-up, while the picture keeps playing. • Held like a book: picture on one page, controls on the other — nothing sits in the fold. • When you fold or unfold it, the show simply keeps playing. NEW • Kids profile: a single switch turns a profile into a kids profile. Everything stays locked until you allow it — with search across all bouquets. Only the parental PIN gets you out, and when you leave the app, Heukino locks again. • Ambient light your way: Channel Logo, Subtle Tint or Theme Light. • You can now spot new bouquets from your provider at a glance — as a notice in the TV tab and at the top of bouquet management. • “Recently Added” shows titles from your region first. • “Live” is now also in the channel window on iPad and Mac, in the window in your space on Vision Pro, in the mini player and in the Mac menu. IMPROVED • Apple TV: bouquets you hide or reorder on iPhone take effect on Apple TV right away — no profile switch needed. • iPhone and iPad: the player shows nothing but the picture — the clock and battery indicator fade away, and a double tap or pinching open with two fingers fills the whole screen. • A new button in the player takes you back to the last watched channel (iPhone and iPad). • Apple TV: when you switch to another app, Heukino releases the connection to your provider and resumes playback when you come back — important for accounts that allow only one connection. • Search shows which bouquet each result belongs to, and bouquets can be listed in your provider's order. • Large libraries with movie posters need far less memory — this fixes crashes. • Before you share an account, Heukino asks for your PIN, Face ID or Touch ID. • Clear messages: if your provider turns you away or your account is blocked, Heukino now tells you why. • Catch-up entry point centered on iPad and Mac, pull to refresh in your theme's color. • On smaller iPhones, the player tucks rarely used buttons under “…” so nothing overflows. • Catch-up now always plays the show you picked — on some servers it used to play the one before. • Apple TV: faster start-up and smoother search with very large lists. • Many small improvements and bug fixes. Many of the new customization options are part of Heukino Premium. KEEP WRITING TO ME Something missing, something bothering you, or can another app do something Heukino can't? Write to me. Heukino 2.0 is built almost entirely from your emails, reviews and requests. Thank you! NEW • Themes and accent color: background and colors to your taste, plus True Black for OLED screens and alternate app icons on iPhone and iPad. • Favorites in your own order and in your own lists, optionally split into Live TV, Movies, Series and Reminders. • Manage channels yourself: hide, rename, assign your own numbers. Duplicate channels (HD, FHD, 4K) can be combined into one — if one version fails, Heukino switches to the next. • Channel list as shelves, as a list or with a sidebar, showing what's on now and next. Movies and Series optionally in a classic view with categories alongside. • Channel list over the running picture: switch channels without leaving the player. • Live button in the player: after a pause, one press brings you back to what's happening now. • Catch-up overview: every channel with an archive in one place — pick a day and catch up on the show. • Guide: only your favorites if you like, filter by bouquet, adjustable row height and time offset. • Home your way: show, hide and reorder shelves, save searches — and pick up where you left off when you open the app. • Player: aspect ratio, skip intervals, a sleep timer until the end of the program, next episode automatically. Heukino can remember audio, subtitles and audio delay for each channel. • Subtitles: preferred language, on automatically for foreign-language audio or always, styled as set in Accessibility. • Reminders open the channel directly; if you like, Heukino switches over when the show starts. • Playlists: edit them, protect them with a PIN, refresh them all at once and sort them yourself. • Widgets on iPhone and iPad, your choice of what the Top Shelf shows on Apple TV, Focus filters, and a Playback menu on the Mac. IMPROVED • Fast start: your channels are there right away; updating happens in the background. • Channels that used to stutter even though the connection was fast enough now play smoothly — on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. • Picture but no sound? If a provider sends the audio with shifted timestamps, Heukino now compensates for it on its own. • The guide keeps itself up to date — even on slow connections and when the app stays open for a long time. • Apple TV: the guide has been rebuilt so that scrolling down no longer stutters with large playlists. • When all streams on your account are in use, Heukino now says so clearly. • After switching profiles, nothing the previous profile had open is visible anymore — important for kids' profiles. NOW ON APPLE VISION PRO Heukino is now built for Apple Vision Pro: open channels as windows and place them anywhere in your space. Many of the new customization options are part of Heukino Premium. UP NEXT Heukino for iPhone Duo. KEEP WRITING TO ME Something missing, something bothering you, or can another app do something Heukino can't? Write to me. One bug fix, and a quick one: reported on Saturday, fixed on Saturday. Thank you for writing. FIXED • iPad and Mac: movies were shown only in the top part of the area, with a large empty strip below them. Picture and controls share the space sensibly again — the strip is now only as tall as the controls need it to be. • This split layout is switched off from now on. If you like it, turn it back on in Settings under "Playback"; if you already set it yourself in 1.5, your choice is kept. • Subtitles were invisible in the split layout — they sat behind the control strip. • At large text sizes the controls were pushed off the bottom of the screen. • The switch for the layout also appeared on iPhone, where it cannot do anything. • iCloud problems now give the reason instead of just an error number. More bug fixes are coming. Keep writing to me if you notice something or something is missing — 1.5 was almost entirely built that way, and so was 1.5.1.
Thank you for your feedback — this update is almost entirely built from it. I tried to implement as much as possible as quickly as possible; much of it within days of your email. NEW • Favorites everywhere: a visible star on every channel tile — in the shelves, in the hero, in search results and in "All". On Apple TV via the program cell's menu. • Dedicated shelves for "Recently Added" and "Favorites" in Movies and Series. • Audio delay for AirPlay and HomePods: in the player, in 100 ms steps — now for live TV on Apple TV as well. • Tidy up bouquets: hide categories you don't need and set the order yourself. • Classic channel list with number and current program — on Apple TV with jump-to-channel-number. • Catch up from the guide when your playlist offers an archive. • Multiple windows on iPad and Mac. Multi-View in exact 16:9; on iPad and Mac two channels stacked and noticeably larger. • 50 languages, with improved right-to-left layout. IMPROVED • Search now finds titles with and without punctuation, with typos, and with one word too many. "spider man homecoming" and "The Game of Thrones" get you there. Results under "Channels" and "Programs" are reachable on Apple TV. • Your server details stay put. They were lost after a day or two when the device reclaimed storage. • Less buffering: a short dropout no longer interrupts the program with a black loading screen — the picture stays and playback continues. The live buffer is larger and adjustable. • Playback: no more restart after every hiccup, and the refresh rate now adapts on every channel change. • Apple TV: backdrops fill the whole screen, "Continue Watching" in the Top Shelf, favoriting from the guide, and the X closes the Premium sheet again. • Mac: icons in the window bar, smoother guide scrolling. LOOKING AHEAD TO 2.0 • More bug fixes are coming soon. • 2.0 brings support for visionOS and iPhone Duo. FEEDBACK IS STILL VERY WELCOME Tell me what's missing, what bothers you, or what should work differently. And if another app can do something Heukino can't: let me know. I look at every request and build what can sensibly be built.
• Send feedback right from Settings – optionally with a screenshot or screen recording • Much clearer connection status when signing in • Stability and bug fixes
