Atheling is a medieval historical strategy game where real history is only the beginning. You are the King of England. Rule your kingdom, make decisions, build a dynasty and survive war, rival claims and succession as history drifts further from the version we know. Each campaign begins with a rich historical foundation: real rulers, families, rivalries, claims, relationships and conflicts drawn from the period. The people, relationships and pressures are grounded in history, but your decisions can completely change what happens next. Replay as many times as you like, or continue your alternate history far beyond the campaign in sandbox mode. RULE, SURVIVE, CONTINUE Manage war, marriage, claims, relationships, legitimacy and succession. Your ruler will age and eventually die, but the game carries on. Children inherit. Rivals return. Alliances break. Decisions made years earlier can become the next generation's problem. CHANGE WHAT HAPPENED Win a battle that was lost. Keep someone alive who was supposed to die. Create a royal marriage that never happened. Put a different family on the throne. Some campaigns may stay close to history. Others can become almost unrecognisable. PLAY ANYWHERE Atheling is built for single-player play and works offline. No account. No ads. No multiplayer. No daily rewards. No internet connection required. History has already happened once. This time, it's up to you. The first campaign is free, with unlimited replays. Unlock the remaining campaigns and sandbox with a single lifetime purchase.

A new beginning: the autumn of 1065 This acts as the tutorial to Atheling. You play Harold the months before the crown, from Oxford to Westminster, learning the game by living through the Northumbrian revolt, Tostig's fall and Edward's last Christmas. Every step points at the control it means, and the chronicler speaks on every screen.
