Shapely 3D 1.1 is built for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 — and finally answers the question "but how big is it, really?" VIEW IN ROOM • Tap View in Room under the orientation cube (or in the View menu on iPad) and your model appears on your actual desk, at its actual size, through the camera. Turns out the "small bracket" was a doorstop. Better to learn that now than after four hours of printing. iOS 27. • Export USDZ… from the project menu writes the scene as a USDZ file, every object in its own colour, ready for Quick Look and any USD tool. The model leaves home. It will call. iOS 27. APPLE PENCIL • In the sketch tool, squeeze (Pencil Pro) or double-tap (Pencil 2 and Pro) flips between Pen and Freehand — pick which in Settings › Apple Pencil. A hovering Pencil shows a crosshair where the next corner will land, so the Pencil knows before you do. • In the viewport, hover previews where an armed shape or copy will land, shows the ruler's snap point and highlights the face under the tip for cut and Edit Faces. A tiny fortune teller. • On iPadOS 27, once the Pencil has touched the canvas, your resting palm draws nothing. Your palm has been demoted to a palm. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS • Settings › Shortcuts is now on iPad too. Every command is listed under the menu it lives in; click a shortcut, press the new keys, done. Esc changes its mind, ⌫ restores the default, and right-clicking gets you the old-fashioned key field for the stubborn cases. • Give two commands the same keys, or pick one the system already owns (⌘H, we're looking at you), and the row tells you which command you just stepped on — because on iPad a colliding shortcut doesn't complain, it quietly stops working, which is worse. SPOTLIGHT, SIRI AND SHORTCUTS • Every project is searchable by its name AND by the names of the objects in it, so "bracket" finds the project holding one even if you called it "Untitled 7" (we know you did). Shortcuts and Siri gain Open Project, New Project and Export STL (Pro). ALSO NEW • Multiple windows on iPad: File › New Window opens a second editor with its own project, selection and undo, so the reference model can sit next to the one you're building in Split View or Stage Manager. A project only opens in one window at a time — asking for it twice brings the first one forward instead of letting two copies fight over your work. • Per-face colours: in Edit Faces, paint just the selected faces so a lid or one side of a box can be a different colour. They survive booleans, cuts, point edits, smoothing and duplicates, and show in USDZ and View in Room. STL still can't carry colour — that's STL's problem, and it's been STL's problem since 1987. • A project menu in the objects list on iPhone and iPad — rename, STL import and export, sharing and Settings, all in one place. iPhone can finally import and export STL. We're sorry it took this long. • Drag-to-reorder in the objects list: start a multi-selection, then drag a row by its handle. Order matters for Subtract, so yes, this is load-bearing. • On iOS 27 the editor's top bar hands its controls to the system menu as the window narrows, so Back, the objects list and the Tool menu are always one tap away, however skinny you make the window. • Saving a copy and exporting an STL on iOS 27 write the file in the background while you keep working. FIXED • Flat View on iPhone no longer zooms or shifts the picture when switching between 2D and 3D. The picture stays where you left it, like a well-trained picture. • Pinch-to-zoom in 2D no longer slides the model sideways after a pan. It was never going anywhere; it just liked the attention. • Project thumbnails follow Light and Dark Mode instead of always looking like they were shot in a basement. • On iPad, the delete confirmation for a project now points at its card instead of floating ominously in the middle of the screen. • Undo names a reorder "Undo Reorder"; the welcome tour's pages sit centred in the sheet, as pages should.
