A beautiful new app icon, designed by the incomparable Matthew Skiles! And we've added support for Voice Control on the location detail and change location screens.
Fixed a bug that would could cause "special day" notifications to be scheduled more than once.
More bug fixes and improvements.
A small number of minor fixes. Nothing to see here. :-)
Most of what's new in this version is behind-the-scenes, preparing for some big things to come. But one thing you'll notice is that the nighttime stars now change from day to day and location to location, so you'll see something new every evening.
Added support for new “special day” notifications, like the earliest and latest sunrises and sunsets of the year. Sunchime will also now occasionally prompt you to rate and review the app. If you like Sunchime, please give us a review! Thanks!
We've improved Sunchime's initial onboarding screens and, for the first time, introduced a free trial for Sunchime+!
Time-To-Leave notifications! Stop missing sunrises and sunsets at your favorite viewing spot. Sunchime can now tell you when to leave your current location so you get to your spot in time to watch the big event. (Take that, traffic jams!) And we also added Special Day notifications so you'll know if today is a special event like the equinox or solstice.
Added comprehensive VoiceOver support, and performance improvements that will make things feel much more snappy.
You can now add favorite locations using an interactive map, so you're not limited to the locations that appear in the search results. And you can now give your favorite locations custom names. So add "Home" (yea!), "Work" (boo!), "Secret Sunset Spot" (hmm!), or whatever else you'd like!
Fixed a bug that miscalculated sunrise and sunset times during daylight saving time. Everything was working great in the fall, but at some point between then and now, the bug was introduced. (Face palm.) But it's fixed now. Your sunrise and sunset times are recalculated after midnight each night. To trigger a manual recalculation, go to the new "Advanced" section on the Settings screen.
Find your Sun Buddy! While watching the sun rise or set, Sunchime can now tell you a place, somewhere in the world, experiencing the "opposite" event you are. While you watch the sun rise, who is watching it set? And while you're ending your day, who is starting theirs? Now you'll know!
Fixed an issue where the keyboard wouldn't dismiss properly if you manually set your location during onboarding. Sorry 'bout that.
A handful of minor fixes, including an improvement to the haptic countdown so it exactly synchronizes with the countdown clock. (Our not-so-long, very-limited-in-scope nightmare is finally over.)
Fixed a few minor issues, including one that miscalculated the end of polar day and polar night. (Apologies to our Arctic and Antarctic friends!)
Added more positive message choices to the app, and those messages can now optionally be shown on the main screen when the sunrise or sunset animation happens. And based on your feedback, we changed how early alerts work. You can now choose one type of early alert notification to schedule, and a 10 minute alert is now available.
Fixed an issue where the app wouldn't switch locations after you tapped on a notification for the current location.
Fixed a small layout issue with the time zone label.
The most recent sunrise or sunset will now remain on the main screen for 60 minutes after it happens, so if you switch to a location right after the sun rises or sets, it's now easier to know that just happened. We also made improvements to the onboarding screens you see the first time you run the app.
Favorite locations can now be sorted by time (i.e., which one happens next), and you can pin locations so they stay at the top of the list. You can also ask Sunchime to notify you when the sun rises or sets at one or more of your favorite locations.
Sunchime now supports multiple locations! Keep an eye on the sunrise and sunset times at your favorite locations around the world. Watch the sun rise and set anywhere the same way you do at home. Sunrise at the Eiffel Tower, and sunset at Mt. Everest — all in a single day!
A few small fixes and adjustments to the countdowns introduced in the last version.
More countdown options! You can automatically display a countdown 1, 5, or 10 minutes before the next sunrise or sunset, and also have the option to show the countdown on the lock screen when Sunchime isn't open.
For our early rising friends, we've updated the app to use a beautiful new color palette for sunrises and mornings. Sunrises are now more pink and purple, while sunsets continue to be more orange and red. Enjoy!
Widgets now have color options! Choose from one of twelve different theme colors. This version also improves the appearance of widgets in tinted and clear modes.
