# New • Article Info: a new sheet from the article's context menu: where it came from, its dates, read and starred, and when retention will remove it. • Feed Info: now shows the feed's format and the date of its newest article, so a feed that has gone quiet gives itself away at a glance. # Improved • Preparing an article's text no longer holds up the interface.
NEW • YouTube channel feeds get the full treatment: video player, description and thumbnail. • Mark All as Read moves to the article list's bottom bar, next to Hide Read Articles. • Clear Web Cache, a new button in Settings → Debugging info, to empty it yourself. FIXED • Inoreader sync silently stopped tracking read and starred items on accounts with nothing left unread or starred. • Orphaned downloads are cleared at launch, and full-text view no longer fills the web cache. • More feeds can be added: files starting with a long comment, older non-UTF-8 sites, and YouTube channel URLs. • Videos embedded in articles now play in full-text view.
Most of this release is under the hood: the foundations Newsairy is built on have been rebuilt. Everything works exactly as before (I hope), only steadier and ready for what's next. A few changes: • Mark as Read on Scroll no longer marks articles you never scrolled past, and stays smooth on very long lists. • Large archives are much faster — marking a whole feed as read, and Custom Smart Feed counts, keep up at any size. • A badly timed sync can no longer undo your reading: what you did on your device wins. • Shortcuts arrive, with the first action: Add RSS feed to Newsairy. Hand it a URL and the app opens with the Add Feed sheet ready.
No more hunting for a feed's exact address. Paste the website's address and Newsairy finds the feeds for you, then shows you what it found. If a site offers more than one — articles, comments — you pick. Already have the feed's address? Paste it and it goes straight through, as before. Plus a small fix: the 'X' that clears a text field is now easier to hit.
Some feeds only send the first paragraph. A new button in the article view fetches the full text and shows it right there, in your theme and at your text size. No browser, no cookie banners. It all happens on your device. What the feed sent is still available offline. The full text is fetched when you ask for it, so that one needs a connection, and not every site will give up its text. A short reading tips card now shows the three ways to read a whole article: tap the title, swipe in from the right edge, or use the new full-text button.
Version 1.10 — A Closer Look Tap an image in an article preview to open it in a new full-screen viewer, where you can zoom in for a closer look. Dates in the article list now adapt to how recent an article is: just the time for today, the weekday and time within the last week, and a full date for anything older, all localised to your region. Also in this version: • Avatars get a subtle background so they stand out • Titles next to a thumbnail are no longer cut short • The sidebar shows its loading spinner again And some reorganising under the hood to keep things reliable.
What's new in this version: • A new Mark as Read on Scroll option marks articles as read as you scroll past them. Turn it on in Settings → Behaviour; it's off by default. • Covers now appear across more feeds. Some sources didn't show a cover image before — Newsairy now finds those images and shows them as a thumbnail in the list and a hero image in the preview. • Under the hood, unread counts update noticeably faster and scrolling is smoother, especially on large feeds.
Fixes an iCloud sync issue so your articles and read state stay consistent across your devices.
