Sunshine turns complex Australian weather data into something genuinely beautiful and useful. Built for Australians who want to understand their weather, not just check a number. FREE FEATURED PLACE By default, Sunshine lets you see the full weather experience for our Featured Place of the Day. It’s a daily window into somewhere new across Australia—from Uluru to Dubbo—accessible to everyone for free. SUNSHINE PAID: UNLOCK AUSTRALIA A subscription unlocks all places in Australia and some features, including: - Search 33K+ Places: Find and save any Australian location. - Dynamic Location: Automatic weather updates for exactly where you are. PREMIUM WEATHER FEATURES (Available for the Featured Place and all unlocked locations) BOM Data The observations & forecasts are powered by real-time data from the BOM. See rainfall probability, wind patterns, temperature trends, and UV at a glance. The intelligent timeline adapts to what matters most to you—whether that's tracking incoming rain or planning around UV peaks. Stunning sunsets & Time Travel Sunshine visualises complex data into an interface with genuine utility and beauty. Scroll back to last night's rain, forward to Thursday's forecast and reset the timeline to view current conditions. The sky transitions between each weather condition as well as day and night. Rain Radar Animated overlays show rain movement, rainfall intensity, and when it all happens. It's simple - the way it should be. Widgets for Your Home Screen Glance at current conditions, hourly forecasts, or multi-day summaries directly from your home screen widgets. Stay updated without opening the app. Beautiful, Intuitive, Opinionated Design Sunshine tells you a lot about the weather, but it doesn't tell you everything - deliberately. Weather shouldn't require decoding. Sunshine presents complex meteorological information with clarity through thoughtful visualisation, smart grouping, and colour-coded systems that communicate conditions at a glance. Sunshine delivers observations & forecasts in an intuative interface. Celsius, km/h, millimetres The French did it in the 19th century, and we show nothing else. Privacy Nothing is tracked here. Location data never leaves your device. Sunshine fetches weather data, and never collects or sends information about that, because that would be creepy. Sunshine version 1.0.3 “Tumbleweed” Hello! How are you finding Sunshine? matt@sunshine.mattro.design This build adds a new cleaner onboarding flow and some voiceover fixes. Please tell your friends to try Sunshine! New - Cleaner, nicer onboarding flow. - Severe weather events are highlighted in red in the daily forecast text (“Hail”, “flash flooding”, etc) Voice Over - Tidies up settings view by skipping settings irrelevant to Voice Over users. - Improved onboarding steps to be more straight forward while using Voice Over. Fixes - Rain no longer shows “0.0mm” when selecting a forecast moment. It shows “--“ instead (there’s no rain til it rains!) Previous Builds - Significant performance improvements. ~35% of the memory footprint. ~20% of the energy usage by reducing processing while the app is idle and while scrolling, which should result in a less-warm device. (Let me know!) - The two widget options have been merged in to one. Use app settings to switch layouts. (If you added the "Weekly" widget previously, please remove it and add the widget again) - Added widget layout options to Settings: You can choose daily or weekly layouts. - Added two buttons to Settings: 1. Leave a Review: A shortcut for you to rate Sunshine on the App Store easily. (Please, try the fish.) 2. Tell Your Mates: A quick way to share Sunshine with your friends via a standard share sheet. (Really, the fish is great.) - Place names can be abbreviated if there isn't enough space to show them. "University" becomes "Uni", "Mount" becomes "Mt", etc. - Tapping a day in the week overview scrolls the chart into view AND moves the chart to the day you tapped. - Hardened Sunshine's API handling, and added more WeatherKit fallbacks.
