This time around we’ve got a handful of quality of life improvements: • When switching between accounts within a window, Aeronaut now remembers your last used feed for each account • New windows now open with your last used account • The Activity tab is now smarter about how it groups related notifications so you’ll see fewer individual entries for the same actions • Images that can’t be reduced to fit Bluesky’s 1MB upload limit by compression alone are now downscaled, so you’ll see fewer failed uploads • You can now drop images anywhere on the composer window, not just on top of text • When editing your profile, adding descriptive text to images, or reporting content you’ll now be informed when approaching the character limit Finally, this release fixes a bug where removing and re-adding an account after moving it to a different account host would leave the account in a broken state.
This release contains a couple of small fixes: • Double-clicking the titlebar of the main window now correctly performs the action configured in System Settings—previously it ignored your settings and always expanded the window • A bug that in very rare circumstances could result in premature session expiry has been squashed
This release contains a fix for viewing full-size images which broke following changes to Bluesky’s CDN. Also in this version: • Aeronaut now remembers your position in list feeds • The Activity and Mentions tabs now have a Mark All as Read button • Handles containing emoji and non-Latin characters display those characters
Aeronaut has been in the App Store for a month now—so fittingly this is the biggest release since launch! • You can now share text and links from other apps and they’ll appear right in the post composer using Aeronaut’s new share extension—support for images to follow • You’ll now see notices confirming that actions such as liking a post or muting a user have finished, and if your internet connection or Bluesky’s servers are running a bit slowly, a notice will let you know that something is actually happening • A new Settings option lets you change the direction in which the spacebar scrolls—for folks who prefer scrolling towards the top of their feed • No fewer than 25 new items with keyboard shortcuts have been added to the main menu, including the ability to cycle tabs, feeds, and accounts, change the text size, like posts, repost, follow users, and much more! • In feeds of any type you can now use the period (.) key to scroll to the top and refresh the feed • You can now use the left arrow key to go back, and the right arrow key to perform the default action on a selected item; these join the existing ⌘[ and return/enter key shortcuts • Tab switching keyboard shortcuts (⌘1 through ⌘8) are now smarter: when you’re already on the tab they’ll take you back to the first page if you’re not already there, or scroll you to the top if you are • Finally, selected items are now deselected when you ask to be scrolled to the top, so when you next press an arrow key you won’t get taken all the way back down Note that the refresh keyboard shortcut has changed from ⌘R (now used for reply) to ⌥⌘R.
This release adds support for keyboard selection with arrow keys.
This release fixes an issue where accounts could get stuck in a weird state if something went wrong when adding them, blocking them from being re-added.
This release is 100% made up of bug fixes and improvements that came from your feedback! Improvements: • Like a peaceful timeline? Aeronaut now supports following feed preferences, so you can turn off reposts, replies, and quote posts. Naturally these are kept in sync with your Bluesky account • On a MacBook and not a fan of awkward keyboard shortcuts? You can now scroll with the spacebar (or shift plus spacebar to go up) • Had a good few folks that didn’t like GIFs playing automatically, so you can now turn that off • Switching to the Search tab now automatically places your cursor in the search box Bug fixes: • Three finger swipes to go back now use the same direction as any other app • You’ll no longer see errors if you scroll way down one of Bluesky’s own custom feeds (e.g Discover, Videos) • A glitch where the top of a previous screen would sometimes be cut off when navigating back should be gone
This release contains what should be a comprehensive fix for the session expiry issue being experienced by a significant minority of people. Deepest apologies for the inconvenience, and many thanks to all those who helped get to the bottom of this. Also in this release: • Everybody wants keyboard shortcuts! So you can now switch tab using ⌘1 through ⌘8 • For people who really like their feeds, this release fixes a bug where the feed switcher would fail to load if you’d saved upwards of 50 of them • Your preferred system language will now be used as the default posting language, fixing a bug where it always defaulted to English
This update hopefully relieves session issues that a good few people have been experiencing.
• Text editing is now better, but in ways that are a bit too boring to describe! • Your thoughts (and bug reports) are awesome, so you can now send them straight from the app. Just select Help → Send Feedback from the menu bar • This release also adds support for cashtags ($AAPL, $NFLX). Not a lotta love for those apparently, but feature parity is an important goal.
