SEND FILES STRAIGHT FROM FINDER Control-click files and choose Services → Rename with Mass Rename, use Open With, or drop them onto the Dock icon. Don't see the Services entry? Turn it on in System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Services. NUMBER RAW + JPEG PAIRS TOGETHER Turn on "Same number for files with the same name" in a Sequence action, and IMG_0001.jpg and IMG_0001.dng get the same number. RENAME IN SEVERAL ROUNDS Keep Files in List runs another renamer on the same files, just like the original Mass Rename. Undo Rename steps back one round at a time. TYPE A NAME YOURSELF Double-click a new name, or right-click and choose Edit New Name…, to set one file's name exactly. SORT BY DATE TAKEN Put photos in shooting order. "Photo taken" in the Date action now always reads the photo's own date. FILTER BY KIND AND EXTENSION Show only images, or just .jpg files. Rename applies to the files shown. FASTER AND MORE RELIABLE Fields in actions take typing on the first click, big folders load much faster, and dragging actions and sidebar items works every time. Thanks for using Mass Rename! TOOLBAR FIX FOR macOS 13 VENTURA On Ventura the toolbar could be missing altogether, putting Add Files, Sort, and Rename out of reach. It's back. Thanks to everyone who reported it. FILTER, THEN RENAME JUST THOSE Narrow a long list to Images, Documents, Audio, Video, Archives, or Folders — or to a single extension like .jpg. Rename applies to exactly what's on screen, so everything hidden is left untouched.
Mass Rename 2.0 is a complete rebuild — faster, more powerful, and smarter than ever. AI SMART RENAME Let your Mac read what's inside a file and give it a clear, descriptive name — all on-device and private. (Requires macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence.) REUSABLE RENAMER WORKFLOWS Chain simple actions into powerful rules you can save, organize into folders, and reuse anytime. LIVE PREVIEW, BUILT FOR SCALE Add tens of thousands of files and see the new name for every file as you work, with automatic conflict handling so nothing gets overwritten. RENAME BY REAL FILE INFO Photo dimensions, camera model, music tags, and dates — plus new Custom Format tokens, including Parent Folder. RENAME FOLDERS, TOO Include folders right alongside your files — or rename folders on their own. ONE-CLICK UNDO Changed your mind? Undo an entire batch instantly. Thanks for using Mass Rename!
