Exporter for Contacts lets you export Address Book contacts from Apple's Contacts app to CSV, XLSX Spreadsheet for Excel and Numbers, Outlook OLM, Outlook CSV (incl. Microsoft 365) and various other formats, capable of organizing export setups into reusable templates to make repeated exports much easier. Compared to similar apps on any platform, Exporter for Contacts offers the highest level of flexibility for exporting contact data from iCloud and other sources while remaining easy to use. # Main Features Exporter for Contacts has many features that make the app stand out from the crowd: - Developed and maintained since 2006. One time purchase, no subscription, free updates, no data collection. - Export formats: CSV, Excel spreadsheet, Google Contacts, Outlook for Mac OLM, Outlook for Windows CSV, Microsoft Office 365 Contacts CSV, XML with XSLT transformation - Export setups: You can create as many export setups as you want for recurring exports. Each setup automatically remembers which contacts and contact fields you have selected. - It can identify contacts that have been modified or added since the last export and limit the export to those contacts. - You can select whole address book accounts, groups and also individual contacts together for export in one go. - You can load external vCards from the Finder into the app to convert them into another format. - In addition to the handy Simple Field Chooser, you can also specify in more detail what should be exported and in which order for formats like XLSX Spreadsheet for Excel and Numbers, CSV and XML using the Custom Export Layout Editor. - The app can format phone numbers in a uniform way during export. - You can combine any fields in a single column. For example, you can create a spreadsheet where column A contains the display name, company and job title, and column B contains phone numbers and email addresses. The field names can be exported as section headers if you wish. # Export Formats Exporter for Contacts can do more than a simple converter that just write all contacts with all fields into a big CSV file at the push of a button (although you can also use it this way). Besides special formats like Google Contacts and Outlook for Windows CSV/Outlook for Microsoft 365 CSV, it also directly supports the Outlook for Mac OLM format with all the trimmings. Of course, the app can also generate CSV and Excel files, and you can specify in detail which fields to export and in what order. When exporting as a CSV or Excel Spreadsheet file, the app even supports address book fields that do not exist in the Contacts app. For example, it can export street name and house number separately. It can also combine data neatly. If a contact has multiple email addresses or phone numbers, they can be easily exported as a list into a single table cell. # Privacy Your contacts are other people's data. Unlike online converters and cloud AI chats, the app keeps them on the Mac and collects no data. # Pricing In a free basic mode, Exporter for Contacts can create customised vCards (these are vCards where you decide which fields are exported). All other export formats can be tested for an unlimited time, with the last character of an exported value being replaced by a tilde. This allows you to download the app for free and get a feel for whether it could be of use to you. All paid export formats can be activated through a low-cost one-time purchase (no subscription). This in-app purchase supports family sharing and can be shared by all members of a family group. *** If you have questions or suggestions please contact the author. Last update:
- Fixes a crash on macOS 12. The app quit unexpectedly after an export when contacts contained a date such as a birthday. The same happened with the filter for added and changed contacts. - Fixes a crash that could occur when the list in the “Contacts” area contained a very large number of entries. - Fixes distorted icons in the “Export Format” pop-up menu on macOS 27. - The “Omit Blank Columns” option now considers only the contacts of the current export. Previously, a column remained if it had held values in an earlier export since the app was launched. - When “Omit Blank Columns” is not selected, every chosen field now gets a column in the “To separate columns, one per label” mode. Previously, fields such as phone, email, or birthday got no column if none of the exported contacts had a value for them. - The “Omit Blank Columns” option is now selected for new export setups. - When “Add Column Titles” is not selected, exported Excel files no longer freeze the first row. Previously, the first contact stayed at the top while scrolling. - Values without a label now receive a generic label such as “phone” or “email”, in the language of the export. Previously, the field name in the system language took its place. In custom export layouts, columns for such values are no longer empty, and Google CSV no longer enters the value itself as the type. - Improves the export of dates such as birthdays and anniversaries. - The “Language” pop-up menu now also offers English (Canada), English (India), and English (Philippines). - On macOS 13 and later, the “Remove” command in the context menu of the list in the “Contacts” area removes the clicked entry instead of the current selection. If the click lands on a selected entry, it removes the entire selection as before.
