{"appstoreID":571574618,"title":"Photo Investigator: GPS & EXIF","subtitle":"Edit Metadata + Detect AI Art","developerName":"Daniel Anderson","description":"Your photos know more than you think.\n\nEvery image your iPhone takes secretly stores GPS coordinates, timestamps, and device details. And in the age of AI, it stores fingerprints that reveal whether the picture came from a camera or a machine. Photo Investigator shows you exactly what's hidden, and gives you the tools to remove what you don't want to share.\n\n\nNEW IN 8.1: AI IMAGE DETECTION\n\nPhoto Investigator now flags AI-generated images using on-device metadata signals. No image leaves your phone.\n\nWe check three layers:\n\n• C2PA Content Credentials: the signed provenance standard backed by Adobe, Microsoft, and others. When an AI tool signs an image cryptographically, we read the manifest and surface it.\n\n• XMP DigitalSourceType: the field that conforming AI generators write to declare origin (trainedAlgorithmicMedia). Used by Instagram, Facebook, and X for their \"Made with AI\" labels.\n\n• EXIF fingerprints: the gaps real cameras don't have. Authentic photos carry focal length, lens model, ISO, and a shutter timestamp. AI-generated images often don't, and some generators name themselves in the CreatorTool field.\n\nNo signal is perfect. Screenshots and recompression erase a lot, but for unmodified AI exports the signals are usually there. We put them in front of you, on the metadata you already trust.\n\n\nTHE PRIVACY TOOLS\n\n• Strip GPS: remove precise coordinates, altitude, and compass direction before sharing\n• Clear timestamps, device details, copyright, and creator fields\n• See at a glance whether a photo reveals where you live, work, or travel\n• Use the Photos editing extension to clean metadata without leaving Photos\n• Templates for one-tap presets across an entire photo selection\n• Edit confirmation: review every change before it's saved\n\n\nTHE DEEPEST METADATA VIEWER ON iOS\n\n• Every EXIF, IPTC, and XMP field in one place: nothing hidden from you\n• GPS coordinates, altitude, direction, and UTC capture time\n• Camera make, model, lens, focal length, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, color space\n• IPTC: creator, copyright, description, keywords, credit, source\n• XMP: edit history, ratings, Content Credentials, AI provenance\n• Video: codec, resolution, frame rate, HDR data, plus audio export\n• Extended attributes (xattr): which app created the file, original filename, timezone, system-level fields iOS doesn't surface anywhere else\n• Depth maps, Live Photo flags, HDR flags, WebP hidden metadata, RAW support\n\n\nINSPECT FROM ANYWHERE\n\n• Photos editing extension: review and edit metadata without leaving Photos\n• Share sheet extension: inspect any file's metadata from Messages, Files, or any app\n• Open any location instantly in Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, or Maps.me\n• Browse your full photo and video library with metadata visible at a glance\n\n\nMADE FOR\n\n• Privacy-conscious users who share photos online and want to know what they're broadcasting\n• Journalists and investigators verifying image authenticity and provenance\n• Photographers managing camera settings, copyright, and editorial metadata\n• Researchers and forensic analysts who need a full technical record, including xattr and C2PA Content Credentials\n• Anyone curious about what their phone quietly records every time they tap the shutter\n\n\nTHE MAP\n\nEvery geotagged photo in your library plotted on a satellite map. Tap any pin to open the photo and its metadata. The arrow shows which way the camera was pointing.\n\n\nNote: viewing all metadata is free. Editing and removing metadata requires a one-time in-app purchase.\n\nIn the App Store since 2012. Built and maintained by a single developer who cares about your privacy.","bundleID":"com.augmen.Investigator","appiconURL":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/07/44/75/074475a5-d39f-ba4c-a282-0587555becf8/Placeholder.mill/1024x1024w.webp","formattedPrice":"Free","appUpdated":"2026-06-23T14:10:12.000Z","appReleased":"2012-11-26T23:14:15.000Z","version":"8.1.1","platforms":["iphone","ipad"],"minOS":{"iphone":"Requires iOS 16.0 or later.","ipad":"Requires iPadOS 16.0 or later.","mac":"Requires macOS 13.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later.","vision":"Requires visionOS 1.0 or later."},"topIAPs":[{"name":"Complete Unlock","price":"$2.99"},{"name":"Photo Investigator 7.0 Unlock","price":"$4.99"},{"name":"7.0 Loyalty Unlock","price":"$2.99"}],"languages":["AR","CA","DA","NL","EN","FI","FR","DE","HE","HI","ID","IT","JA","KO","NB","PT","RU","ZH","ES","SV","TH","ZH","TR"],"size":"73.8 MB","category":"Photo & Video","developerWebsite":"https://photoinvestigator.co/","screenshots":[{"platform":"ipad","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/0b/ac/82/0bac8221-0c39-f244-8a1f-d9d64412b513/slot1-ai-hero-ipad-v3-ipad-in-hands.png/2048x2732w.webp"},{"platform":"ipad","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource221/v4/0f/10/6a/0f106aeb-fac4-cda0-6237-6d6bf34bb87f/slot7-iphone-saw-ipad.png/2048x2732w.webp"},{"platform":"ipad","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource221/v4/fd/7d/61/fd7d61c1-7c33-ed95-74bf-7c6ef2ec04d0/slot3-where-been-ipad.png/2048x2732w.webp"},{"platform":"ipad","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/c3/a4/81/c3a48124-11eb-ebab-7abf-567cfc8556d3/slot2-share-photos-ipad.png/2048x2732w.webp"},{"platform":"ipad","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/9a/4d/ce/9a4dcec0-8842-c349-731e-2e08cb81db9f/slot4-find-way-back-ipad.png/2048x2732w.webp"},{"platform":"ipad","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource221/v4/9d/69/e1/9d69e19f-6a4d-435a-c2e4-a4ddd4510ea1/slot6-skim-dive-ipad.png/2048x2732w.webp"},{"platform":"iphone","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/f8/58/69/f8586940-b1c8-0fac-34a9-eb77d30d01cd/final-01-is-it-ai.png/1290x2796w.webp"},{"platform":"iphone","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/ba/63/b7/ba63b74e-0647-2672-4609-6e30d98e81e4/final-07-iphone-saw.png/1290x2796w.webp"},{"platform":"iphone","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource221/v4/72/f1/71/72f171c7-79db-8b90-2ee6-d995e6484e9c/final-03-where-been.png/1290x2796w.webp"},{"platform":"iphone","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/0f/8d/e4/0f8de411-cbb2-6a00-ad78-5920398ace1a/final-02-share-photos.png/1290x2796w.webp"},{"platform":"iphone","url":"https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/8d/ac/bf/8dacbfde-6edc-4dbd-92d0-ee80cea9825f/final-04-find-way-back.png/1290x2796w.webp"}]}
